Just for fun.

Sometimes it's just nice to get out of the house, hang out with some friends, and snap some photos. 

Several months later...

I have not been around these past months... and months. When I decided to take a break from my photography business I thought I would still be around... posting pictures of my kids for sure. I guess my long break was needed. I have still been taking pictures though! I haven't stopped, this is something I still love and I just can't stop. This fall I took photos of this lovely family. They also happen to be the last family I posted photos of way back in January! Scout has sure grown up and is almost 2. I loved seeing her fun personality, she had so many smiles for me. It was a cold late October morning, but you wouldn't know that from looking at these pictures (green trees??). Leslie and Kyle, it was so fun seeing you and getting the chance to snap some photos. Thank you! It's been awhile!!

I also took the chance to take photos for a few friends this fall. Each time I did, it made me want to get this business started again! I wish it was the right time for me, but not just yet. So for those of you wondering... I'm still taking this break, even though you might see a few posts here and there. It's all just for fun. It's something I enjoy, but cannot dedicate my time to right now.

Scout is One!

 I am a mom of three kids, I have watched them all grow up so quickly.  But I am still so amazed that this tiny little baby...

can grow into such a beautiful big girl in just one year!

Scout is the first little one that I photographed for a whole year through. We had many fun photo sessions since she's been born (and even a maternity session before she was born :)). Here are all of her photos... Maternity, Newborn, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and today I am posting her one year photos :) Leslie and Kyle did an awesome job with the props and cake, everything turned out great!

And some tears...

We had planned these fun photos inside and they turned out great... but we were also excited that it was a *warm* January day (in the 50's!) so we headed outside to snap these photos with mom and dad. I am so glad it was a nice day!! (And Scout wasn't afraid to give me some adorable smiles...)

I got started with photography back in 2009, taking photos of my kiddos is what got me started. I guess some would call me a "mom with a camera." The next year I started taking photos for friends and then friends of friends. The next thing I knew I was photographing family, baby and maternity sessions each month. I LOVED it and couldn't believe I had gone so far with photography in such a short time. I was learning so much and meeting awesome people along the way. It was a great experience for me.

In 2011 I was pregnant with my third baby, but I continued to do photo sessions. After my baby girl was born my plan was to keep going with my photography business, but as 2012 went by I quickly realized that things might need to slow down a little. 2012 would have to be my last year... I needed more time with my little family.

So here I am... it's 2013. My plan for the year? To continue with photography, but strictly as a hobby. I will miss my clients, and taking photos for them. I am not "quitting" as some might think, as a photographer I don't necessarily have to run a business :) I will be taking photos just as much or maybe even more than I have in the past 4 years. I have ideas for the upcoming year and so many things I want to learn and practice.

So that's my journey. How I got to the point I am at now. A little bit more about me? I am a married girl with three kiddos. I am in my late twenties enjoying every minute of it that I can. I love lifestyle photography, shooting in natural light, hanging out at home with my family, reading a good book, watching a great TV series with my husband, playing a good game of volleyball, hanging out with my friends, thrift shopping, hiking, camping and being outdoors. This year I look forward to spending my weekends with my family (whether it's at home or exploring a new place), updating our home that we recently bought and shooting a ton of photos.

2013 Announcement

I have been thinking a lot about my photography business these past several months. I have been trying to make a decision regarding 2013 and how I will be doing business in the new year. It has been a hard decision, but seeing that I still feel strongly about my decision now as I did several months ago, I know I am making the right decision for my family and myself.

Here goes nothing...

Starting in 2013 I will not be taking clients as I will be taking a break from my photography business.

Phew. I said it. I have been wanting to change my mind for quite awhile, but I know this is the right thing for me right now. As sad as this decision makes me, I know I need it. Right now I have a very young family that needs me... and I need them. I feel strongly that this break from photography will give me the chance to give my children the attention that they need. I look forward to the day that I can start my photography business again.

I want to tell you (my wonderful clients from these past THREE years!) how much I appreciate you all! Taking photos of your sweet families has been a great experience. I have loved getting to know each one of you. Photography has been a wonderful outlet for me. I have grown so much from learning this art by capturing moments of your life. Thank you for trusting me and allowing me to be your photographer!

The last thing I want to do is leave you stranded without a photographer. If you would like a recommendation for a new photographer in the area please contact me and let me know! I would love to refer you to a new photographer.

Also, please feel free to stop by this blog and say hi! I will continue taking photos of my little kiddos and I plan to post here frequently. I may not be in business, but I am still a photographer :) I also have a lot of practicing and learning to do during this break that I'm taking.
